Flipkart Ekart Label Printing: A Practical Guide for Sellers

New to Flipkart? Read how to sell on Flipkart — registration to first sale first, then use this guide for Ekart label specifics.
Flipkart sellers ship through Ekart Logistics by default, and Ekart has one of the most courier-friendly label specifications in India. The barcodes are large, the AWB is prominently positioned, and the label-to-invoice separation is cleaner than Amazon's stacked layout. But the PDF still requires preparation before it is thermal-ready.
The Flipkart PDF structure
Flipkart's seller dashboard exports labels as one PDF per batch. Each page is one order with a small margin around the printable area. The label occupies most of the page; an invoice strip sits on a separate page. Unlike Amazon, the label and invoice are not stacked on the same page — they are alternating pages.
- Odd pages: shipping label.
- Even pages: invoice / outgoing manifest copy.
This makes Flipkart the easiest of the three to crop algorithmically — you simply discard every even page and trim a small margin from each odd page.
Anatomy of an Ekart label
Top band: courier route code
Ekart prints a route hash at the very top — three to five capital letters that map to a sortation lane at the courier hub. Never crop this off; the parcel will be mis-routed.
AWB barcode
The 1D Code-128 barcode sits below the route code. Width is generally 50mm, height 18mm. Both dimensions matter for scanner compatibility — squeezing it horizontally makes hand scanners fail at angle.
Address and CoD details
Cash on Delivery (CoD) shipments have a prominent "COD ₹XXX" stamp. Couriers have refused to dispatch parcels missing this stamp. Make sure your crop boundary preserves the bottom of the address block where the COD line sits.
Common reasons Flipkart labels get rejected
- Faded barcodes from a thermal head past its rated lifespan (~50 km of label travel).
- Curled labels if the roll is stored in humid conditions before mounting.
- Scaled-down printing: the seller chose "Fit to page" in the print dialog and the QR shrank.
- Missing pickup sheet: Ekart requires a daily manifest signed at handover.
Thermal-ready Flipkart workflow
- From Flipkart Seller Hub → Orders → Print Labels, download the batched PDF.
- Open the Ecom Insides Shipping Label Cropper and drop the file. The tool auto-detects "Flipkart" from PDF metadata.
- Choose Thermal 4×6 output and enable SKU sorting.
- Click "Crop labels". Invoice pages are removed, labels are sized to 4×6 with proper margins, and a SKU summary is appended.
- Send the output PDF to your thermal printer at "Actual Size", 203 DPI.
What the SKU summary saves you
Flipkart batches often mix 30+ unique SKUs across 100 orders. Without sorting and a summary, your picker grabs items in random sequence. With sorting, they walk one bin at a time. With the summary, they reconcile counts upfront. Mispick rate typically drops from 4–5% to under 1%. The same routine powers the fastest way to print 100 shipping labels.
Frequently asked questions
Does Flipkart accept thermal-printed labels?
Yes. The format requirement is barcode legibility, not paper type. Ekart hubs scan thousands of thermal labels daily without issue.
Can I print all labels in one go and skip per-order printing?
Absolutely — that is the recommended workflow for any seller doing more than 20 orders/day. Crop the bulk PDF once, then send the entire stack to the printer.
My Flipkart PDF has the invoice stapled to the label as a single image — how do I crop?
You may have downloaded the legacy combined format. Re-export from the seller hub with the modern "Print Labels" option, which gives you alternating-page format.
